Rooftop solar price in Faridabad 2026 — full cost breakdown

A 3 kW rooftop solar system in Faridabad costs roughly Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 2.2 lakh before subsidy. After the central PM Surya Ghar subsidy of Rs 78,000, most Faridabad homeowners pay somewhere between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.4 lakh out of pocket. That is the number to hold in your head when a salesperson quotes you.

Faridabad falls under Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, DHBVN, and your net metering is governed by the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission. Your electricity bill will tell you which DISCOM serves you, and that matters because the application process runs through them.

What the money buys. Roughly half the system cost is the panels. Current standard modules are 550W to 590W monocrystalline PERC, so a 3 kW system is five or six panels. The inverter is the next largest item at fifteen to twenty per cent. The remainder covers mounting structure, DC and AC cabling, earthing, protection devices, labour, and the DISCOM paperwork your installer files. If your roof needs elevated mounting to clear a water tank or parapet shadow, structure cost rises noticeably.

The subsidy position in Haryana is genuinely unclear, and you should know that before you plan your budget. The central subsidy is certain: Rs 30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW plus Rs 18,000 for the third, capping at Rs 78,000 for any system of 3 kW or more. Whether Haryana adds a state top-up on top is where sources disagree. Some list a state component of around Rs 10,000 per kW capped near Rs 20,000, others state plainly that Haryana currently offers nothing beyond the central amount. We are not going to guess on your behalf. Call DHBVN or check hareda.gov.in before you assume a top-up exists, and treat any installer who promises one without evidence as someone to verify carefully.

What Faridabad homes typically need. A monthly bill of Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000 points to a 2 to 3 kW system for most households. Above Rs 5,000 a month you are looking at 5 kW or more, but note that the subsidy caps at 3 kW, so the extra capacity is paid entirely by you at full price. This is why 3 kW is the most common residential size across NCR.

Roof space. Budget 80 to 100 square feet of genuinely shadow-free roof per kW. A 3 kW system therefore wants 250 to 300 square feet of clear terrace. Count only area that stays sunlit through the middle of the day. Space that falls into shadow by two in the afternoon is not usable, whatever an eager installer tells you.

Two conditions that decide whether you get paid. Your installer must be registered on the PM Surya Ghar national portal, and the panels must meet domestic content requirements. Buying modules from a local shop and arranging your own fitting means zero subsidy regardless of workmanship quality. Get the panel make, model and DCR compliance written into the quotation.

What it saves. A 3 kW system in Faridabad generates around 350 to 400 units a month averaged across the year, which on a typical tariff means roughly Rs 2,800 to Rs 3,200 off the monthly bill. Payback after subsidy usually lands between three and five years. Panels carry twenty-five year performance warranties, so the remaining two decades are effectively free power minus one inverter replacement around year ten to twelve.
