Rooftop solar price in Gurugram 2026 — and one thing to check first

A 3 kW rooftop solar system in Gurugram costs roughly Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 2.2 lakh before subsidy, and around Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.4 lakh after the central PM Surya Ghar subsidy of Rs 78,000. Gurugram has a competitive installer market, which is good for price, and one local complication that catches a lot of residents out.

Check who actually supplies your electricity. Gurugram falls under DHBVN, but in many private developer townships and gated communities, power is supplied through a private management company rather than directly by the DISCOM. If your electricity bill does not come from DHBVN itself, the standard net metering route may not apply to you in the usual way. Ask your society management or maintenance office how rooftop solar applications are handled for your specific arrangement before you collect quotes. This single question can change your timeline by months.

The cost breakdown. Panels account for roughly half the total. Standard modules now run 550W to 590W monocrystalline PERC, so 3 kW is five or six panels. Inverter is fifteen to twenty per cent. The rest is structure, cabling, earthing, protection devices, labour and paperwork. High-rise and villa installations in Gurugram often need more elaborate mounting, which pushes structure cost above the NCR average.

Subsidy. The central amount is fixed and certain: Rs 30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW, plus Rs 18,000 for the third kW, capped at Rs 78,000 for 3 kW and above. A 5 kW system receives exactly the same Rs 78,000 as a 3 kW one. Whether Haryana adds a state top-up is disputed between sources, so confirm directly with DHBVN or HAREDA rather than relying on an installer's claim.

Apartment and society solar. If you live in a flat rather than an independent house, your route is usually through the RWA rather than individually, since the roof is common property. Group housing societies and RWAs have their own provision under the scheme, at around Rs 18,000 per kW for common facilities, covering fairly large capacities. This is worth raising at your next RWA meeting, because a society-scale system on common load is often an easier win than persuading a builder to allocate individual roof rights.

Sizing. A Rs 3,000 monthly bill points to roughly 3 kW. Budget 80 to 100 square feet of shadow-free roof per kW, so 250 to 300 square feet for 3 kW. In Gurugram's taller developments, shading from adjacent towers is the most common reason a roof that looks fine turns out not to be. Stand on it at ten in the morning, at noon and at three in the afternoon before committing.

The two conditions that decide your subsidy. The installer must be registered on the PM Surya Ghar national portal, and panels must be DCR-compliant. Neither is negotiable, and both are easy to verify in writing before you sign.

Payback in Gurugram typically runs three to five years after subsidy, with panels warranted for twenty-five years.
